Ashwagandha is an ayurvedic herb made famous by reports that it is taken by athletes to improve stamina and overall physical performance. Ashwagandha's sanskrit name is drawn from its strong smelling roots. Its name in Sanskrit literally means that which smells like a horse (ashwa-horse and gandha-smell).
Nicknamed the "Indian ginseng", the herb is also a well-known aphrodisiac. Rich in phytochemicals such as withananine, choline, trapino, and alkaloids, it has the unique ability to not only increase physical fitness but also to relax the body.
